Finally back in stock: DiMAX 1202B – more power, more fun!

The wait is over: After being unavailable throughout the year so far, the DiMAX 1202B Digital Booster is finally back in stock. We would like to thank all garden railway enthusiasts and dealers for their patience. If you have been planning to expand your layout or need additional power, you can now move ahead with your plans.

With two power output stages, versatile connection options and several operating modes, the DiMAX 1202B offers much more than additional track power.

Two 6 A outputs or one 12 A output

The two output stages supply two separate track sections with up to 6 A each. Alternatively, they can be combined into a single output delivering up to 12 A in standard and RailCom modes. This allows you to distribute the available power according to your layout’s configuration and requirements.

The track voltage can be set to 14, 16, 18, 20 or 22 V, allowing you to match the booster to the required operating voltage. A separate 18–24 V DC power supply with sufficient capacity is required.

Versatile connections for different digital systems

In addition to connections for Massoth DiMAX and LGB MTS II and III, the booster provides a CDE interface and Märklin CAN connectivity for the Central Station CS2 and CS3. It can also take its input signal directly from the track output of a command station without a suitable booster bus.

The booster is not limited to DCC: it can also amplify formats such as Motorola and Selectrix. The separately available 8312086 connection cable is required for Märklin CAN operation. Integrated mfx feedback is not provided.

Standard operation, braking sections and RailCom

In standard mode, the DiMAX 1202B amplifies the command station’s track data and supplies it to the connected track sections.

In braking booster mode, it generates braking data that can be used with a brake generator to create separate stopping sections in front of signals. The locomotive decoders must support broadcast address 0. A particularly useful feature is that locomotive functions remain controllable, allowing you to operate lights and sound while the train is stopped at a signal.

In RailCom mode, the booster generates the cutout required for decoders to transmit data back from the track. This requires a compatible command station, RailCom-equipped decoders and a separate RailCom detector.

Straightforward controls and built-in protection

Settings are adjusted directly using the buttons on the front panel. LEDs indicate the track voltage, operating mode and operating status. Short-circuit and overload shutdown, together with overtemperature monitoring, protect the unit during operation. A temperature-controlled fan provides cooling as needed.

When setting up the layout, power districts must be isolated from one another on both rails, and their track voltages must be matched. The instruction manual explains the connection options and required wire sizes.

Take the next step in expanding your layout

Whether you need additional power districts, more track current or dedicated braking sections, the DiMAX 1202B gives you more possibilities for your garden railway.
