The first shipments of the eMOTION 4FXW Coach Lighting Decoder (8152620) are now underway. Following the 4WLR Coach Lighting Control, this digitally controlled version expands our range for upgrading the lighting in LGB RhB express coaches. The 4FXW replaces the factory-installed analogue control unit and combines four individually controllable function outputs with an integrated power buffer.
While the 4WLR uses a slide switch to turn the coach lighting on and off, the 4FXW is controlled by its integrated DCC function decoder. This lets you operate the lighting conveniently through your digital control system.
Four outputs for individual lighting control
In DCC operation, all four function outputs can be switched and dimmed individually. You can control the connected lighting selectively and adjust its brightness to achieve the desired appearance. By default, the outputs are assigned to function keys F1 to F4. Function mapping allows you to change these assignments. Programmable lighting effects, including a fluorescent tube effect, provide further ways to personalise your coach lighting.
Less flickering thanks to an integrated power buffer
Brief interruptions in track power can spoil the appearance of an illuminated train. The built-in power buffer bridges these interruptions, reducing flickering in the coach lighting. Stored energy remains available even after track power is switched off or the coach is removed from the track. How long the buffer supplies the connected lighting depends on its power consumption. Both bogies can be connected to the track connections on the underside of the circuit board for reliable current pickup.
Keep existing lighting and add new elements
The 4FXW is designed to replace the factory-installed control unit. The wires from the existing coach lighting are transferred and soldered to the corresponding pads on the new circuit board. Two MiniCT sockets on the top allow table lighting to be connected. Both are assigned to function output FA3. An additional solder pad simplifies connecting table lights in series – for example, when upgrading an RhB dining coach
Suitable for analogue operation too
The 4FXW can also operate with analogue track voltage. Analogue operation and all four outputs are enabled by default. Many previously programmed settings, including dimming and flashing, can also be used in analogue operation. The decoder offers its full range of functions, including individually switchable outputs, in DCC operation.
