8151701 eMOTION Powercap maxi


The Powercap maxi replaces the former eMOTION Goldcap Buffer 8151501. Based on the Powercap micro development this new high capacity Powercap maxi is able to buffer larger locomotives. Especially designed for two motor engines the Powercap maxi is able to feed locomotives up to 30 seconds. The size has been reduced by approximately 40%.

The eMOTION Powercap maxi is used to compensate for short interruptions in track voltage. It was specially developed for twin-engined
locomotives. The motor and the special functions are supplied from the memory during this interruption. This means that locomotives can easily run over points or insulation points without stopping. The duration of the buffering is up to 30 seconds, depending on the connected load, current speed and state of charge of the memory.

Universal digital use & intelligent technology
With its well thought-out design and the use of special capacitors, the Powercap maxi with integrated charging circuit and charging function deactivation for decoder programming is suitable for use with almost all digital decoders that provide the contact decoder + and decoder – directly. Direct connection of the Powercap maxi to decoders of the eMOTION series
The Powercap maxi is particularly suitable for connection to the decoders of the eMOTION series. As usual, the contacts decoder + (red) and decoder – (black) are used. The third cable (white) is used to switch off the charging function when the contact is open. This function is performed by a function output of the eMOTION decoder. The charging function is automatically switched off when the decoder is being programmed or read out. The programming process can therefore be carried out correctly. For external decoders or older decoders, the additional switch included in the scope of delivery is used.

The performance data are:

  • Buffer time up to 30 seconds (load-dependent)
  • maximum buffer current 3A
  • maximum charging current 400mA
  • Operating voltage 6-20 V DC (max. 24 V)
